Post 26: two orders and a new home!

...in the words of Meatloaf...(his name was Robert Paulson), two out of three ain't bad. I managed to meet two of my three weekly task targets. I finished the order for four ponytail beanies, and I completed a lap afghan repair. I am let down that I have yet to post any of the newer listings to my etsy shop, but it has been another hectic week in the life of this QIDP, part time creative.

The best part of the week though has been agreeing on a contract for our first house! šŸ” Goodbye apartment life--hello beautiful new home! My soul is filled with excitement to know we can put down roots and end this year with something positive! ❤

Post 25: Back after a week off

Hello everyone! As anyone who has become a follower of this blog or Facebook or even Instagram may already be aware of, I took a week vacation away from all yarn-y types of things last week to finish up a swap package on lettuce craft. I am by habit, and by a fault, a habitual procrastinator. To make matters worse, I was thinking that the swap requirements were two fewer small items than the actual requirements ... so this means that I had a lot of crafting to do in a short amount of time. Fortunately though, I prevailed thanks to a wonderful swap partner who had a multitude of interest in several different areas. This allowed me to try new things which I will hopefully be able to share at the beginning of December.

Due to the week off last week, I did not have anything to show for this blog that I worked on within the past week. So I thought that I would take a few photos of some upcoming projects that I look forward to completing this week.

The first project that I'd like to complete are four ponytail beanies for a commission. I make these just about every winter, usually for gifts for Christmas or for family. Are a joy to work up and I shared my methods in a previous blog from last week if anyone is interested.

Next up will be finishing some patching projects on this granny square afghan. This belong to a family member who has since passed away. My mother inherited this afghan and I seek to repair it so that she may enjoy it. I also received quite a bit of the vintage yarn, so I will be able to do if not an exact color match, a pretty damn near close one.

And lastly, there is much yarn to add to the Etsy shop. I've slept a little bit and getting new content on Etsy. It is not intentional or my procrastinator mentality. Things have actually been rather busy with my primary career and there hasn't been much time to set aside for finishing up the listings. I have taken today off and Friday and hopes that I can dedicate a little bit more time this week to getting some new listings up.

Stay tuned to next week to see how well I do at completing my project list for this week. If you stumble upon this blog feel free to leave a comment or say hello. I enjoy blogging but I'd really like to hear from some people and what they are working on. Stay safe and happy crafting!

Post 024: Halloween Week

Where to begin! I'm taking the next week off from preparing yarn and commissions to finish up a craft swap. I'm the queen of procrastination and while there's not much left to do, Friday is the deadline. With that though, I will finally be able to soon share some of the wonderful project that I've completed! This includes some freeform crochet, and other things that I'm not allowed to speak of until my partner opens the package...you never know who may be viewing, and I don't like ruining surprises :)

I have had the opportunity to work on a few projects. I have an order for four ponytail beanies, which are a fun and quick project. While the instructions for this are the shorthand version, this is the method I find most useful. Please find pattern at bottom of this entry :)

This was Halloween week and boy was it busy! At work, we organized a parade for the people we support who live in our CILAs. It was amazing to see all the smiles, decorations and costumes. Of course we dressed up too and I was none other than Carole Baskin. I think I just wanted to wear the floral headband and blonde wig šŸ˜†šŸ˜‚

I also organized a virtual Halloween Party for staff and clients which went so well. The days where something as epic as bringing all together for fun and sharing seasons/holiday excitement serve to confirm that I am where I need to be. My work family of clients and staff are beautiful and wonderful people!

As for our personal lives, we had a nice Halloween indoors. I did get time to organize the Craft area too.

We did not pass out candy, but we did get to babysit and even got MCD to pass out a cookie to the little one as she wore her costume to look at Halloween lights and displays. Then it was more blocks, Legos and My Little Pony lol! Life is grand!

Ponytail beanie:

Foundation: attach yarn to elastic hair tie with a DC. Dc around hair tie until the elastic is covered. I find this is usually between 50 and 65 DCs.

2nd row: (Dc in next st, 2 DC in next stitch) around. Do not join.

3rd row: begin in first DC of last round and DC around.

4th row: continue DC in each DC around, increasing or decreasing to fit. I usually eye ball it. I tend to not need to decrease much until around the fourth row and near the bottom edge/rim.

To finish: the final three rows are joined with slip stitches. Each row is alternating FPDC and BPDC for a lovely ridge effect.

I think you will enjoy making these. They work up quick and sell well!

Post 47 Free Sock Pattern

Finished the socks! Dropping in to share the notes version of the pattern that I created. It is much less detailed than a paid version that...
